You will start with our basic design and instructions, we'll help you customize it to get exactly what you want.
For example, create a bag to hold 1 tutu only, or 2 to 3 tutus, or even 12 tutus;
choose to use a gusset, or create a 'saucer-shape' bag (no gusset);
put pockets on the inside or the outside or both or none;
add seam-piping;
line the inside of your bag;
create a bag with 1 compartment, or with separate compartments for more than 1 tutu.
A too-large bag damages the tutu by allowing it to move around; a too-small bag crimps the edges - we'll show you how to properly size the bag, and how to insert inside-straps to hold the tutu(s) in place.
We supply 1 large, very sturdy, plastic zipper.
You will supply your own fabric(s).
Don't be afraid to mix and match fabrics - from mild to wild, we've done some really fun bags with velveteen, pleather, canvas, and nylon - from plain black to shocking pink to zebra-stripes!
We've even done them to match the bodice fabric of the intended tutu - bengaline, brocade, satin, etc.
One of our favorite projects was an exquisite velvet bag, with contrasting piping, and a gorgeous satin-brocade lining - it was absolutely stunning!
We do have some fabrics in stock for these bags, and are happy to send out some samples if you are interested in buying the fabric from us.
But, we do encourage you to 'think outside the box' and find fabrics and colors you really want to work with.
Or, when this class follows the 'Guided Shopping Trip', come shop with us and let Claudia help you pick out something fabulous for your bag!
Note - if you choose to use heavy or 'difficult' fabrics, make sure your machine can handle them in advance by testing it on some scraps.
