The Tunic (or Jacket) is a staple in many men's ballet roles, from principal to corps de ballet, but making them 'look right' is harder than you may think. In this seminar, you will learn all our secrets to great fit and comfort, and thus to 'looking right'.

You will make one men's tunic, with sleeves on a separate heavy-Lycra undervest. Among the tricks you'll learn is the technique for adding Lycra into the tunic seams to make the costume more 'breathable', as well as various finishing techniques, such as making your own cording or using store-bought upholstery cording or bias tape, plus several other 'secrets' we've figured out over the years.

The course will also include a thorough discussion of measurements - how to take them, how to be sure they're accurate, what to do if you are making the costume for a dancer who is not there for a proper fitting, etc.

You will choose a Tunic style, either 'Princely' (harder) or 'Classic' (easier).

We will discuss and demonstrate several different peplum styles (that little piece at the bottom), and you will choose 1 style to finish your Tunic with.

We supply the pattern and all top fabric, lining fabric, Lycra, etc. If you prefer, you may bring your own top fabric (you will still receive our fabric to use in the future - no discounts for bringing your own fabric).
