This class is rather loosely designed (pun intended!), in that you will work at your own pace, and construct as many projects (up to 3) as you can handle in the day.
You will choose which projects you want to construct when you register.
If you select the Womens/Girls Two-Tone Leotard or the Romantic or Classical tutu option, we'll need to know whether you want a Child or Adult size pattern - for all other projects, the size is up to you, since all Adult sizes are included with the pattern.
You will make your fabric color choices in-class from what is available at the time.
And of course, we supply all the patterns, instructions, and fabrics.
The course will discuss 2-way vs. 4-way stretch options, fabric weights, pattern layout options, and the use of 'negative ease'.
You absolutely must have a serger for this course!
Either a 3-thread or 4-thread model is acceptable.
But, please be sure you are familiar with using it, know how to operate it, and know how to thread it - NO basic serger skills will be taught!
And, if you have a Cover-Stitch machine, it will really help you, so bring it along too!
Plus, the Romantic and Classical Tutu projects will also require a sewing machine.
Since sergers are so delicate, we really don't recommend shipping them unless you have a very good packing case.
But if you're driving in, definitely bring your own!
We will have a few machines available for rent!
Please call or email for details.
Keep in mind though, it's still best to bring your own, since an unfamiliar machine will slow you down.
Men's Performance Dance Boots Tops
This will be the 1st project of the day, and is Required for All Students - it's quick and easy, is perfect for getting used to working with the fabric, and everyone will construct 1 pair using heavy-spandex.
These boot tops are designed to be sewn or glued to ballet shoes, either canvas or leather.
The technique and pattern works equally well with Heavy/Jumbo spandex or stretch-leather.
This is a quick, inexpensive, and reusable alternative to those $200 (and more) catalog versions!

Project Option - Unisex Tights
Do you think $40.00 is too much to pay for a pair of tights?
They aren't as hard as you might imagine, but there are a couple of tricks you should know.
The pattern styling is Classic, and features choices for Footed, Footless, Convertible, and Shorts options.
|
Project Option - Women's/Girl's Two-Tone Camisole Leotard
This is a really nice classic pattern, cut with the natural curves of the dancer's body, and designed to truly enhance the beautiful lines of the ballet dancer.
It has a gorgeous fit, with a beautifully cut low-back.
You will create your leotard as a 'two-tone' - the bottom will be black milliskin, and you will choose a top color from what is available in class.
|
Project Option - Women's Two-Tone Unitard
Very flattering empire-line, with a great fit designed to hug the dancer's body.
The pattern features options for Short-Sleeve or Long-Sleeve or Camisole top, Unitard or Biketard length, and is designed to allow different colors and fabrics for top and bottom.
You will create your unitard with a black bottom, and select a top color from what is available in class.
|
Project Option - Camisole Dance Dress, with Glissenet Hip-Cut Skirt
This 'leotard dress' is a classic camisole with low-back and lined top, and is perfect for Lycra, chiffon, glissenet, or double georgette.
The medium-low, softly rounded back accentuates the dancer's beautiful upper-back and shoulders.
The hip-cut skirt drapes perfectly for a very flattering line.
The pattern features 2 skirt designs - cut short and even (as shown), or graduated to 2 inches longer in the back (cascade), and can be constructed with skirt color different from leotard.

Project Option - Romantic Tutu, built on a Leotard
NOTE: You will need both a sewing machine and serger (and/or coverstitch) to construct this project.
This is a quick and easy method for making beautiful Romantic and 'Faerie' tutus built on a leotard.
These tutus can easily be made to fit adults or children, and are perfect for rehearsal, recitals, and even for performance roles.
In this workshop, you will make both the camisole leotard and the Romantic tutu skirt,
and combine them into a professional-quality tutu.
You will have your choice of Adult or Child sizing, in either pink or white (the white is readily dyable).

Project Option - Classical Tutu, built on a Leotard
