Round Flat-Back Sew-On Rhinestones are meant to be sewn to the material, but may also be glued on using one of the several adhesives specially made for the purpose.

These stones (lochrosen) have a single hole drilled through the center of the crystal, which also allows you to attach a bead in the center of the stone should you desire.
