Where is the Card-ID located?
On VISA, MasterCard, and Discover Card, the Card-ID is printed in the signature area on the back of the card, after the credit-card number. On American Express and American Express Gold cards, the Card-ID is printed on the front of the card, right-side, just above the Card Number. On American Express Optima cards, the Card-ID is printed on the front of the card, left-side, just above the Card Number.

What is the Card-ID?
This is a 3- or 4-digit number printed (not embossed) on the card. It represents an additional fraud-prevention security measure, since this information is not included on your billing statement or any other written material - it's only printed on the card itself. VISA calls it CVV2, MasterCard calls it CVC2, American Express calls it Card-ID Number, and Discover calls it CardMember-ID. Most credit cards created in America in last 5 years have this number, although not all banks or issuers utilize the feature. Cards created in Europe and Asia are now beginning to include this measure.
