FYI - More Information About Rit® Dye
This is a hot-water dye. You should use the hottest water that is safe for the fabric.
This dye can be used for all washable cotton, rayon, nylon, linen, silk, wool, spandex, and acetate fabrics.
Polyester or acrylic blend fabrics will dye a lighter color.
Print fabrics will not dye a solid uniform color.
This dye is not recommended for 100% polyester fabrics, 100% acrylic fabrics, or fabrics with special finishes or rubber backing,
fabrics that are only washable in cold-water, or that are labeled Dry Clean Only.
The package color reflects an approximate result when dying white or off-white 100% cotton fabrics using a washing machine.
The powder and the liquid are the same dye.
The liquid dye is simply pre-dissolved powder.
The amount of dye in the bottle will do about twice as much fabric as the box.
You don't have to use the entire box or bottle.
Just re-seal the container and store it away until the next time you need it.
As an estimate, the 1-1/8oz box will dye about 1 pound (dry weight) or about 3 yards of a medium-weight fabric to a light or medium color, using about 3 gallons of water.
You should double the amount of dye for dark or bright colors.
As an estimate, the 8oz bottle will dye about 2 pounds (dry weight) or about 6 yards of a medium-weight fabric to a light or medium color, using about 6 gallons of water.
