We include everything you need to make your own professional-quality, performance-ready Classical tutu.

Although our kits and instructions are designed to help you produce a high-quality costume, we recommend you have at least intermediate to advanced sewing skills. Even so, a tutu is not an overnight project - plan to spend 16 to 20 hours to create an undecorated Classical tutu.

And when it's time to decorate or customize your creation, don't forget we carry a wide array of rhinestones, lace, and trims, as well as many additional fabric colors.

We also suggest you purchase a copy of "Finishing Touches: The Art of Embellishment", found in our Books and Patterns section. This beautiful, full-color book will help you make the most of your customizing options, including overlays and plates, sleeves, headpieces, wings, and more.

When created with the use of skirt plates and bodice overlays, a simple, plain Classical tutu can be used for a variety of roles.

Our standard 'Basic' Classical Tutu Kits are available in 3 styles:

• The 'Russian' ('pancake', 'platter') style is the very-flat, stand-out style most typically associated with tutus in 'modern' times. This tutu has a metal hoop hidden inside the layers of net to help provide the flat-look and stiffness.
• The 'Classic' or 'English' style is similar to the 'Russian' style, but is not hooped. It has a softer, 'more-feminine' look than the 'Russian' style.
• The 'Bell-Shaped' style has much more 'droop' and 'flounce' than either the 'Russian' or 'Classic' styles. The tutu-skirt is built with longer layers of net, includes layers of soft tulle, and is never hooped.

The 'Russian' and 'Classical/English' kits include enough diamond hole nylon tutu-net to create a tutu skirt with up to a 15-inch top-layer with an additional 'plate' (for placing decorations), or up to a 16-inch top-layer without a 'plate'. (Fabric cutting instructions must be followed correctly.)

The 'Bell-Shaped' kit includes enough diamond hole nylon tutu-net and Domestic (US) nylon tulle to create a skirt with a 17 to 19-inch top-layer, without an additional 'plate', with 3 layers of net and 4 layers of tulle. (Fabric cutting instructions must be followed correctly.)
